Funny Flick Alert: Kung-Fu Panda 3

Posted on: 18th March 2016

We all loved Kung-Fu Panda 1 and 2, so it's no surprise everyone is so excited at the release of Kung-Fu Panda 3! All our fave characters are back in action, along with a couple of awesome new ones.

The wise old Master Oogway (Randall Duk Kim) is chilling out in the spirit world for a few hundred years of well-earned rest, when his ancient frenemy, Kai (J.K. Simmons), a blade-wielding yak who has challenged thousands of kung-fu masters and stolen their chi, attacks him. Kai is storing the stolen chi in jade amulets, and using it to raise a powerful supernatural army. The last little piece from Oogway makes Kai strong enough to escape back into the mortal world, where he becomes determined to hunt down the one destined to overthrow him; Po, the Dragon Warrior.

This is pretty bad timing for dumpling-loving, portly panda Po, as he is torn between his adoptive father, the noodle-peddling goose Mr. Ping (James Hong), and his long-lost biological dad, Li (Bryan Cranston), who suddenly appears unannounced in the Valley of Peace looking for his missing son.

Knowing to defeat Kai he must master his own chi, Po makes the tough decision to return with Li to the secret mountain village where members of their species now live in secret. In the meantime, Po’s faithful friends Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman) and the Furious Five; Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Monkey (Jackie Chan), Mantis (Seth Rogen), Viper (Lucy Liu) and Crane (David Cross), stay behind to protect their home against Kai. However, he proves too strong for them, and they cave to Kai's merciless chi spree. As fir what happens after that - well, we won't give it away!

Sounds too serious? Absolutely not! Kung-Fu Panda 3 is packed full of all the laughs, jokes, and happiness the whole family came to love in the first two instalments. Po is back at his gluttonous best, declaring when he returns with Li to his own kind, “I always felt I wasn’t eating up to my full potential!” when he discovers using chopsticks is actually slowing him down. Po's BFFs are always in full swing, adding to the film's hilarious charm, and the introduction of ribbon-dancing panda Mei Mei (Kate Hudson), means you can't go wrong.

So, if you're looking for fun for the fam, why not take an afternoon to see Kung-Fu Panda 3? It's funny, it's moving, and its message to find and believe in yourself is exactly what young minds need to hear. It's the perfect family flick!
