Enjoying Your Anguilla Vacation To The Fullest

Posted on: 16th June 2014

Anguilla VacationIf you would like to enjoy a perfect day in Anguilla, you don’t need to plan a long list of activities for that. After you are done with your breakfast, just head towards the powdery Shoal Bay.  That is where you can spend your entire day with a great many things to do. For starters, just love to relax by dozing off under the son. Once you get tired of that, you can either go boating on Junior’s Glass Bottom Boat or gear yourself up for scuba diving. For lunch, you can choose from a number of restaurants by the beach and then doze off a little more after lunch. Later in the afternoon, go back to your hotel room, take a shower, and head towards the Elvis Beach Bar to view the beautiful sunset with a glass of cold rum punch. Enjoy a hearty meal at any of the grand restaurants at the island.

Activities for Kids and Families

Anguilla is a fun place for kids and families as well. You can avail babysitting and a variety of children programs at CuisinArt Golf Resort and Spa while you yourself enjoy a day at the beach. Cap Juluca has a range of activities for kids and Viceroy offers children programs not only for small kids but also for teenagers. They have a special media room and club for the teens. If you have a small budget, Anacaona Beach Resort can offer you some beautiful family villas at an affordable price.

For dining out with family, you can check Smokey’s at the Cove, Picante, and Blanchard’s Beach Shack. Get underway with a family expedition at the Scilly Cay and enjoy a boat ride along with a snorkelling experience at the island with your kids. On Thursday nights, the Fire Fly at Anacaona Beach Resort will entertain you with performances of folk dances and special Anguillian cuisine. If you don’t know how to swim, worry not. You can enjoy much the same on Jonno’s Glass Bottom Boat.

Carnival at Anguilla

If you have already tried all this before and would like to have a different experience at Anguilla, wait for the carnival. It starts on first Monday of August and lasts around ten days. Enjoy the mouth watering food, dance, music, flashy parades, beauty contests, fireworks, art shows and full time partying are just to begin with. As early as sunrise at around 4 am, the music starts and continues till late night jamming sessions.

The best part of the carnival is the boat racing. It is not only a fun filled activity for the tourists; it is also a reason for Anguillans from all around the world to come back home and participate with the island-made and old fashioned boats that have been used by the natives since the start of 19th century. These boats are 15 to 28 feet long and can be compared equally with some of the fastest sailboats of modern times. The boats don’t have decks and hence, heavy bags of rocks, stones and sand are used for counterbalancing. The boat racing is fun to watch as spectators follow the boats all the way along the beach lines by foot, by car or from other boats.
