But is it really so? A recent survey conducted by Galaxy for Escape, 1000 Australians were asked to rate their top holiday destination that offered them best value for money. Bali and Thailand were rated as the most popular holiday destinations while Australian tourist destinations were rated a distant third.

Western Australians with 46 percent votes were the ones who favoured Bali as the most favoured holiday destination that offered them great value for money.

However, if you are looking for budget spots that offer you sun and sand without treading down the beaten path, then we have the list of destinations you can visit!

Escape together with Flight Centre has listed 11 new holiday spots for you that you can enjoy at not more than $3000 a person.

1. Samoa

If you want to be the first one to welcome the rising sun in 2014, then Samoa is the place you must visit, a worthy alternative to the popular budget destination, Fiji.
