New Zealand Adventure

New Zealand offers a plethora of places and activities for the adventurous spirits. If you only have just a couple of days to escape the hustle and bustle of city living, then going in a New Zealand getaway is the right answer. Dubbed as the adventure capital of the world, you are in for many surprises while exploring every nook and cranny of this country.

First, you have to determine your personal preferences and expectations. Knowing that the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere have opposite period of seasons, you can plan your itineraries and enjoy your adventure travel in New Zealand to the fullest. Here are some of the outstanding places you can check out for extreme adventure, pleasure, and fulfilment.

The Tongariro National Park, the oldest national park in the country, is such a place of beauty and wonders. Why does it make your list of top New Zealand’s adventure destinations? The central plateau is rugged and lush while the flora and fauna are diverse and mostly endemic. You can find three volcanoes dominating the sceneries here: Tongariro, Ngauruhoe, and Ruapehu. Each one has a fascinating Maori legend worthy to be heard. If you are up for some extreme adventure and endless action, this is a great spot to go skiing, trekking, or camping.

The Ulva Island is a tiny paradise within the Paterson Inlet. Formerly named as Cooper’s Island, it is a sanctuary to a wide range of gorgeous plant and bird species. During your New Zealand’s adventure travel, you would not want to get in here without your trusted camera. You will be exhilarated as you come in close contact with nature’s creations such as the Stewart Island robin (toutouwai), the South Island saddleback (tieke), the Brown Kiwi (tokoeka), the South Island forest parrot (kaka), the yellowhead (mohua), and much more. It is truly a wonderful breeding site for birds of different sizes, colours, and characteristics.

Tucked in the south-eastern spot of the South Island, The Catlins Coast is a dream come true for those looking for adventure travel in New Zealand. The coastal landscape is stunning while the dense rainforest is haven to a variety of endangered species. Because of the temperate and ever changing climate here, the impact to the surroundings is quite intense. And yet, it resulted in a dramatic ambiance and look. If you love the outdoors and the wild, you can satisfy all your senses here. Take a hike along wild beaches, cascading waterfalls, and native bush. Get up close and personal with the rare yellow-eyed penguin, the Hooker’s sea lions, and the New Zealand fur seals. It comes as no surprise that travellers here indulge in a day of surfing because of the great swells of the ocean as well as the wild weather.

But there is still more. If you are still hungry for adventure during your New Zealand getaway, the sky is the limit. You can traverse freezing waters through a white water rafting trip. You can embark on an ice-climbing journey on Fox Glacier. You can try paragliding, bungee jumping, and sand boarding. Interact with dolphins as you swim in the open seas or trek on an active volcano if you want. Adventure travel in New Zealand has never been this exciting!
